The fifth Convene the Green meeting was held on February 17, 2026, at the Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary Headquarters’ Conference Room in Galveston, TX. This meeting hosted various stakeholders of Galveston who were committed to the continued efforts of this group facilitating the conversation for the advocacy of environmental and community goals for the City of Galveston.
The purpose of this meeting was to figure out what focus areas the group should target for advocacy for the future Galveston Comprehensive Plan. Discussions emphasized that although Galveston faces many of the same challenges, the group should view the future comprehensive plan as an opportunity to organize around a few high priority goals with new perspectives rather than focusing on past shortcomings. Participants were asked to think about identifying overarching priorities, engaging candidates in the upcoming local elections, and strengthening collective decision-making.
