The sixth Convene the Green was hosted at the Rosenberg Library on Monday, June 1st, 2026 in Galveston, TX. Major stakeholders and community members came together to continue the conversation on the process of updating the City of Galveston’s Comprehensive Plan. Participants were also informed of the focus areas the group had anonymously voted on for advocacy for the future Galveston Comprehensive Plan. The priority areas are: “Sustainable Development”, “Environmental Resources”, and a tie between “Policy, Regulation & Governance” and “Resilience & Preparedness”.
The discussion on the Comprehensive Plan renewal process was led by members that are currently on the steering committee. At the end of it, the concensus for next steps includes reconvening in July after the next steering committee meeting, prepare resources that will help to educate the public on topics such as the comprehensive plan, the renewal process, and the meaning of resilience to help them meaningfully participart in the process when the time comes.
