Special Meeting March 2026

This meeting focused on engagement events for Galveston residents to interact with district and mayoral candidates of the City of Galveston and the development of meaningful policy questions for them.

  • The group discussed engagement event (Candidate Community Conversations) and mentioned others

  • Discussed results of the Ghost Wolves Team questions in order to understand what the questions should be like

  • Spoke about strategies to discuss additional talking points to ensure productive dialogue with candidates on important issues 

  • Questions were finalized and agreed upon

Finalized Questions

  • Other than real estate development, what other ideas do you have for diversifying the tax base? 

    • Looking at the revenue that exists (eg. Port, Hotel Occupancy Tax, Type B Sales Tax), how do you feel about how these are currently being used, and how can we spend the funds better?

  • What is your definition of sustainable economic development?

  • How can Galveston benefit from brownfield redevelopment?

  • Are there areas on the island where you would support more public green space, and where would that be?

  • How can the City and our council members work with non-profit organizations better and utilize the experience in the room?

    • Where are the gaps in knowledge where you can bring in other partners?
